Soulaiman Itani, PhD
Founder & CEO
Soulaiman has spent his career trying to understand how the world operates and how to leverage that knowledge to improve everyday life. With that core belief he created Atheer Labs. The goal is to advance human-centric computing technologies and empower users to have technology work with them in ways never thought possible only a few short years ago.
His previous work includes designing cancer tests and treatments as well as creating models for robotics and unmanned aerial vehicles. He received his Masters of Science and PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Allen Y. Yang, PhD
Chief Technology Officer
Allen is a leading expert in the areas of high-dimensional pattern recognition, computer vision, image processing, and sensor networks. He has made notable contributions to the fundamental understanding of real-world applications including face recognition, object recognition, human motion recognition, image segmentation, and their mobile solutions. He has served as a consultant to various companies such as Qualcomm, Microsoft, and Honda Research and is the holder of multiple US patents through his work.
Allen received his PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He currently also serves as a Principal Investigator at UC Berkeley.
Hamid Farzaneh
Chief Operating Officer
Hamid is a change catalyst and an expert at positioning and driving start-up companies for rapid growth and profitability. He has been the CEO at successful start-ups including DisplayLink, Varioptic, and Optilux. At DisplayLink he turned an insular technology-centric company into a leading global supplier of display networking chips. Earlier, Hamid served as COO of Genesis Microchip and helped develop it from a small Canadian company into the leading supplier of digital imaging chips with over 70% market share in the digital projector, computer monitor and TV markets, enabling a highly successful IPO.
Prior to entering the high technology field, Hamid Farzaneh served as an innovating executive at auto manufacturing, steel and construction companies.
Hamid has a Mechanical Engineering degree from INSA institute of technology in Lyon, France and an MBA from Golden Gate University in San Francisco.
Sina Fateh
Executive Vice President
Sina is an entrepreneur at heart. He has over a decade of innovation and development experience in the fields of human vision augmentation, wearable eye display, and intellectual property management. He was the founder and CEO of Neuroptical Labs and Vega Vista, Inc.. He is the author and co-author of over 30 patents in areas such as wearable eye-display, gesture based interface, vision care, and eye surgery.
Sina graduated from Louis Pasteur University, School of Opthalmology and Orthoptic with an advanced degree in optics physiology from EPHE. He also graduated from the Challenge + program from the HEC School of Management.
Ron Butterworth
Vice President of Hardware Engineering
Ron is Silicon Valley and start-up veteran with approximately 20 years of experience bringing low power, portable hardware systems to market. He has designed, developed, implemented, and sustained product lines with over 100K unit sales per year. Ron is responsible for the hardware development at Atheer Labs and has extensive experience leading engineering teams both in the start-up and corporate environment. He has overseen and guided teams from conceptual design to product launch at Philips, Vadem, Sun Reports, Airia Design, and Renaissance Learning Inc.
